Raising a Tiny Fluff

Day 1

The Baby's Age: ?

Welcome back to another raising project! This time, I'm doing something kind of different - I'm not going to see what the baby looks like until it's born!

Two dogs in Petz. One of them, Sunny II, is a an orange, fluffy dog with red spots and a red left ear, one pink eye, and one light blue eye. The other, Fox, is a tan dog with orange markings on his face and green eyes, wearing a green and brown plaid sweater.

Funnily enough, these two hated each other at first. Some Love Potion fixed that, thankfully. And yes, you better believe I'm doing this the old-fashioned way...

Day 2

The Baby's Age: ?

Sunny II and Fox chase after a rainbow disc toy, which lands on the floor. Fox trips.

Today was just a normal day. I brought out Gyiyg@Polygondwanaland's colour-changing flying disk, which is Sunny's favourite toy, and both her and Fox chased it around!

Day 3

Fluffball's Age: 0

The baby was born today! I've named her Fluffball.

Fluffball, lying against Sunny II, rolls over and goes through a suckling animation before rolling back. Sunny II occasionally licks Flufflball.

Fluffball, with her eyes open, stretches and yawns and then hiccups.

She's not quite as small as I figured she would be (she's almost as long as Fox is), but she is adorable.

Day 4

Fluffball's Age: 3

Sunny II sits behind Fluffball and barks.

This time I remembered not to change the age of the baby, but it still showed up as 3 anyway. Weird.

A hand-like cursor pets Fluffball, who then rolls over.

Fluffball is so cute. Look at those massive paws! I'm really happy about the sheepie heritage.

Day 5

Fluffball's Age: 6

Fluffball is old enough to stand on her own! Though she seems not to want to... Based on the heavy flopping, she inherited the sheepie trot!

My screen recorder decided to glitch out, so today will be a short day.

Day 6

Fluffball's Age: 9

Fluffball flops onto the ground from a height and stands up unfazed.

I finally captured the flop! As soon as Fluffball is her own being I'm checking her personality out.

I also got this cute loop of Sunny II chasing her tail.

Day 7

Fluffball's Age: 12

A pop-up window declaring Fluffball to be old enough to be on her own.

Fluffball is old enough to be on her own! You know what this means — time to look at genetics!

I was right — Fluffball is a trotter (Acrobaticness 0)! This view is from Oasis, btw.

As for looks, Fluffball inherited Sunny's blue-172 eyes, but also got Fox's teal-6 eyes on the other chromosome. (The parents' other eye colours are pink-75 and blue-174, respectively.) She's also, according to LNZ Pro, 26.67% Daschund, Papillon, and Sheepdog, 13.33% Scottie, and 6.67% Dalmatian. Checks out!

Fluffball's favourite colours are white and green! Seeing as Fox likes white and red, and Sunny likes all colours, I think it's safe to say this is a rare(?) case where only one favourite of each is passed down.

And, finally, Fluffball likes... exclusively beef flavour. Huh. That said, she is also a Cheese Cultist.

Day 8

Fluffball's Age: 15

Let's try and figure out Fluffball's favourite toy today!

I've chosen a selection of green and white toys, mostly green. (To ensure my greenscreen works, I've changed the background.)

Fluffball runs and trips with the green flying disk.

While she played with everything, she definitely gravitated towards the green flying disk once I brought her back out a second time! Like I mentioned earlier, Sunny's own favourite is a disk too, so this was fitting!

Day 9

Fluffball's Age: 18

Now that I know Fluffball's favourite toy, it's time to play!

Fluffball runs and tries to jump and catch the green flying disk, but falls.

Fluffball, again, tries and fails at catching the disk.

Fluffball fails to catch the disk again.

Considering trotters have Acrobaticness of 0, and Acrobaticness is thought to be related to how well Dogz catch disks, I wonder if she'll always fail... but I have faith in her!

Day 10

Fluffball's Age: 21

Just a normal day. I'm getting busy with school stuff lately, since it's the end of the year, so it's nice to get a small break.

Fluffball trips twice while running after the green flying disk.

I can definitely see the 0 Acrobaticness in Fluffball. Poor thing trips all the time...

Day 11

Fluffball's Age: 24

Let's teach Fluffball a trick! I want to try and get the "balance on toy" trick, so I'm going to try to do it with a ball.

Fluffball looks curiously at the yellow star ball.

I instead wound up with the amusing incident of Fluffball clinging to the ball and the treat...

Fluffball angrily clings to the treat, held by the hand-like cursor, while also holding the star ball.

I decided to switch treat types to bone (I have Gyiyg's fix) and the ball to the soccer ball, just to make sure I didn't accidentally train something else into her, but to no avail...

Fluffball tries and fails yet again at catching the green flying disk.

She hasn't caught the disk yet either...

Day 12

Fluffball's Age: 27

It's almost adult time! Exciting!

Fluffball once more flops after failing to catch the disk.

On the other hand, she's still missing the disk, even though she loves it...

Fluffball puts the flying disk in a sandy hole and buries it.

She seems to have a vendetta against it, since she buried it while I was trying to set up a new playscene.

Day 13

Fluffball's Age: 30!

Fluffball is an adult now!

It was nice finally opening Petz and seeing a splash on the screen, after I got the fixed file from Beatnik...

Fluffball brings the disk to the hand-like cursor and anticipates it being thrown.

And though she still misses the disk, Fluffball is playful as ever!

Day 14

Fluffball's Age: 36 (uh oh)

Fluffball sways from side to side behind a food dish.

Hopefully this is the only time the game gives me a hard time about the ages.

The green disk bounces off of a waiting Fluffball.

Unrelatedly, I caught the disk bouncing off Fluffball on screen record today!

Day 15

Fluffball's Age: 39

I'm trying treat training again today... but someone clearly still won't do any. :( At least I caught the cute waving begging animation!

Day 16

Fluffball's Age: 45 (noooo)

Fluffball jumps and grabs the flying disk.

Having decided that Fluffball probably can't learn tricks, I've pivoted instead to teaching her to grab mice when I pick them up.

Day 17

Fluffball's Age: 51 (NOOOOO)

Busy day today, but Fluffball did catch another mouse!

Day 18

Fluffball's Age: 57 (NO!!!!!)

Fluffball sits beside the green flying disk, looking between it and the camera.

Another busy day, no thanks to my exam later this week. It's nice to just chill for a bit.

Day 19

Fluffball's Age: 63 (whyyyyy)

Fluffball lies down and pants beside the food bowl.

Fluffball is growing fast thanks to my age glitch. It's another day of studying for me, but I had Petz open to test something, so I figured I'd at least play with Fluffball a bit.

Day 20

Fluffball's Age: 69

I am, at long last, freed of the exam! Today is another mouse-catching day.

Fluffball prances around and then sits down with a grey mouse.

Fluffball definitely knows what's up when I'm holding that mouse. I wonder if she'd grab other petz the way my proto-Maskbunnies would grab pigs...

Day 21

Fluffball's Age: 75

Regular, busy-ish day. It's nice to take a break...

Day 22

Fluffball's Age: 81

Age 100 approaches pretty quickly! I'm guesstimating that she'll turn 100 on Day 26, which is later than Bluescreen (who turned 100 on day 22) even discounting the two days of Sunny's pregnancy, but Fluffball had a few more normal aging days than Bluey did.

Day 23

Fluffball's Age: 87

Fluffball lies on the ground, looks around, occasionally hides her eyes, and then shakes her head and stands up and barks.

While Fluffball did... whatever that was, I decided today I would try and introduce her to some other petz of mine!

Domino was first, by virtue of being the only other pet I actually had in the game at the time, lol.

Fluffball and Domino, a dark purple dog with white spots, play-fight each other before sitting and panting happily.

They seem to like each other! They've been wrestling and play-fighting nonstop.

Fluffball heavily flops to the ground in front of Bluescreen, a blue and white BirdWorm, who looks concerned.

Obviously I had to have Fluffball meet Bluescreen himself. This resulted in, genuinely, one of the best GIFs I have ever captured. Bluey didn't seem to know what to think at first...

Fluffball sneaks up on a resting Bluescreen, and barks at him, making him wake up just after Fluffball is dragged offscreen by the cursor-like hand. Bluescreen is unfazed and walks away slowly.

... but then, in the exact opposite of what I figured would happen, Fluffball decided she didn't like Bluescreen! Bluey is a bit of a ditz and didn't even react to the scare, though. So that was the end of that...

I then opted to have Lopho come out, because I figured his personality would be a good fit, but he decided to be a bit of a jerk. Fluffball didn't seem to mind, but then they were kinda chill?

Finally, I decided to have Fluffball meet Sebbie next, because he was hilariously hateful to Bluescreen and I wanted to see if the common denominator was actually Bluescreen. Plus, they're both sheepdog-brains, which is pretty obvious...

Sorry, Bluey, but Sebbie is actually kind of nice. I guess he just hates anyone jumping on ledges like most dogz...

Day 24

Fluffball's Age: 93

Wow, 93... Back to mouse catching!

She also seems more interested in the colour-changing flying disk than the green one now...

Day 25

Fluffball's Age: 99!

I've been busy as heck updating the whole site, including taking pictures of everyone over at my Petz page, so why not bring Fluffball out? I can't believe this not-so-little fluff will be 100 tomorrow...

Accordingly, I've decided to try out some clothing for her.

Fluffball stands, looking around and barking intermittently. She now has a small white bow on the side of her head and a green collar.

I gave her a green collar, to match Sunny II's blue one, and a little white bow!

Day 26

Fluffball's Age: 100!

Fluffball lies down and barks before standing up again.

Our tiny fluff is all grown up!
