I made another palette today! It's called "chameleon", and is colourpicked from photos of actual chameleons!
The exceptions are the 70s range, which weren't colourpicked but rather chosen for tongues, the 130s range, which was randomly chosen, and the ranges after 150, which were chosen randomly or kept.
Last time I made one of these, I used GIMP exclusively, but decided to bite the bullet and just get LibreSprite — and it's awesome. So much easier!
I've put this on my Downloads page as well.
Besides that, I've also updated the new raising project and made some other minor edits to the site to fix pages that should have led to articles but didn't. I'm also moving my stamp "criteria" (e.g. that "Wowza!" was from getting inheritable black eyes in a dog) out of the blog to become part of the stamps page!

The site I used for my shoutbox, Chattable, is shutting down for a bit because of some cyberattacks. All my data is safe, thankfully, but site maintainance is apparently unsustainable for the dev in the future, to the point where he says to stop using it now, and I respect that. I've taken down the shoutbox because of this, combined with a lack of use (thanks to all who commented though!), but if you still want to chat with me, you can always pop over to my Tumblr and send me a message or an ask!

In preparation for the tutorial about favourite colours and flavours I've been talking about since last July (and even before that), I've added it preemptively to my Tutorials page.
On that note, I'm officially cancelling my planned guide on how the favourites work (the one I mentioned being for a Petz Life event), because I've since found that my research was incorrect! There's also some personal issues at play here too, but I'm not going to elaborate on those for obvious reasons. When we find out more on how favourites work, I'll be sure to add a guide!

Hello everyone! Long time no see!
I mentioned back in September that October was my first major break in school, and I was right! I'm on my first day of reading week right now. However, some circumstances have popped up that make it hard for me to update, namely that my finicky computer is being finicky as usual.
I will do my best to get some stuff done this week, but I may be slower than usual. Until then, stay tuned!

September has rolled around, and this means I'm going back to university! Unfortunately, this means my updating of Hydrargyry may become even slower than normal.
I'll do what I can when I can, but for now, thank you for coming to the site, and I'll have more for you soon enough! My next major break is October, so I'll aim to get stuff ready for then.

The Articles section is now live, and with that, I'm officially calling off the rehaul!
To be honest, I really like my layout right now, it's part of my site identity, and the effort it would take to redo the whole site and learn a whole new coding language (i.e. JavaScript) just for my navigation menu isn't worth it when updating my nav manually isn't that bad. Plus I doubt I'm really going to add much more to it in the future. (Maybe a "Marketplaces" tab for if I join more than the Bazaar and SafePetz Mart, but that's about all I can think of.)

Apologies for the radio silence — life caught up to me, especially with university starting again, so I had no time for Petz last week! I stopped by today to drop some news!
With the addition of "Articles" section I mentioned last time coming up fast, I have plans to do a major site overhaul to make it easier for me to update my navigation! Namely, I'm probably going to completely rebuild the framework, and maybe rework the site design a bit as well. Since this is going to probably take the site offline for at least a day, I'll definitely spread word of when I get around to doing it. My guess is sometime in October, since I'll have a break from uni then. In the meantime, Hydrargyry is staying as it is!

Because the Petz community is learning new things every day, I have some fixes to make to certain guides of mine to acknowledge the things that Intron/Exon got wrong! My genetics and breeds guides are affected. We've learned more about eye colour, for example!

I was on a random WordPress site today while still logged in and noticed a notification. Curious, I tapped it, and it told me I registered with WordPress a year ago today—which means Hydrargyry itself is a year old!
I'm so thankful for everyone who's been with me since the WordPress days, or even before then when I was just a little Tumblr blog called "owlkhemys-creturs"! Here's to a year and hopefully many more to come.

Gods, it's late here. This is what I get for only getting onto my computer at 10:30 PM.

I also now have a guestbook! I tried to get a shoutbox, but none of them seemed to like my coding, lol. I don't blame them. The guestbook works though, so go check that out too!

I swear, my computer loads so much faster at home than at school. Makes no sense. >.<
I have some plans for this impending Easter! Namely, a cute semi-related breed. Not sure if it's going to be a cat or a dog yet, I'll have to weigh my options for the personality.
The story behind why I made this breed will be... kinda dark, but I'll try not to let that distract from how it is! I'll be sure to let you guys know when that breed is up!

I've moved out of residence and am now back home! Also, I made the mistake of calling Saturday the 18th when it's actually the 19th. Today is the 18th, silly!

As this is quite literally my last three days of university, and I have exams and need to move out, I have started to update the WordPress archive less, skipping it entirely today.
You can probably expect more from me again starting Saturday April 18! I'll be moved out of residence and living at home again by then.

I really feel like a proper Petz community member now, lol. I've moved my stuff here from my Wordpress because, well, I despise Automattic and its founder so, so much. I want absolutely nothing to do with Matt Mullenweg because of numerous reasons that I'm sure some of you are aware of. Plus, WordPress and Automattic as a whole are also very open to generative AI, while I... am not, to say the least. I intially was just going to switch to CosmicWord, but decided against it as it looked too complex for me. Then I started using Silex, and was going to publish this on Gitlab, but I had troubles with that too. So, now, I came here! If it works for everyone else, it works for me. Besides, I have a bit of HTML knowledge thanks to Tumblr... which, on that note, despite Tumblr also being an Automattic-owned social, I will still keep using it out of begrudging love for the platform and the people there.
Anyway, here's my plans for the site for now, in roughly the order I want to complete them:
