I'm offering custom birds-of-paradise!

Lopho, a hexed pet designed to look like the black and cyan display of a Greater Lophorina bird-of-paradise, shakes his head and reveals his hidden face.

A Petz Bazaar shop is on the way!

A link button to The Petz Bazaar, showing the site currencies of coins and quartz against a blue and brown background.

I now have a shop on The Petz Bazaar! I'll add a permalink to it in my header eventually, but for now, it's here. It's closed, but I'll update again once I open it!

New Stamp: First Palette!

A very odd and almost twig-like orange pet in Petz looks at the camera. The text reads 'Hydrargyry Kennelz' at the top and 'Uhhh...?' at the bottom. The stamp is primarily black and red on the borders, with the text being white, blue, and red.

I had it in my head to try and hex a pet into my beloved chipmunk plushie Sebastian. Sebbie, the resulting Sheepdog, is very cute and fluffy (and uses Queenie@Phantasm's "autumn" palette...

A chubby brown chipmunk-like pet in Petz holds his head up proudly, wearing dark green round glasses.

...but at one point I opened Petz and... this came out of the Carrying Case.

A very odd and almost twig-like orange pet. In the first image it is facing the viewer and has a red colour. In the second, the creature is orange and facing the left, and Sebbie's normal stripes are visible in the middle of its body.

Not gonna lie, I saw this thing and immediately had flashbacks to The Forbidden One. The fact that it must have had scales of 300 didn't help either! It was so tall it stood taller than the Family Room fireplace.

I figure this was the fault of a LNZ error, as I had just had part of Sebbie's model disappear in LnzLive shortly before this being appeared. Something's telling me that I accidentally removed a heading or something in Sebbie's LNZ, because the next time I opened Petz, he looked fine.

I'm giving myself this stamp both to commemmorate the occasion, and because it's really funny. On that note, I'm redesigning my stamp page to better accommodate stamps that aren't mine but I've collected!

New Stamp: First Palette!

A modified palette in Petz is inlaid into a stamp. The text reads 'Hydrargyry Kennelz' at the top and 'Palette Swapper!' at the bottom. The stamp is primarily teal on the borders, with the text being white, blue, and orange.

After first using the palette swap function, I decided to try my hand at making my own palette!

Most people use LibreSprite or something similar to edit their palettes, but I felt lazy, so I did mine in GIMP! It took waaaaay longer than it should have, probably, but I'm happy with the results! This is based on a palette I use for the fifteen elemental powers from my fiction writing over at my furry site, Owlkalinity, hence "rainbowlka".

A modified Petz palette. The individual numbers are not important outside of Petz context, and 0 to 9 and 199 to 255 are unchanged and thus irrelevant in this case, but the remaining colours are grouped into fifteen main categories: 10 to 19 is a warm grey, 20 to 29 is a medium grey, 30 to 39 is a cold purplish grey, 40 to 49 is a warm brown, 50 to 59 is a cool brown, 60 to 69 is red, 70 to 79 is orange, 80 to 89 is yellow, 90 to 99 is green, 100 to 109 is cyan, 110 to 119 is light blue, 120 to 129 is blue, 130 to 139 is cool purple, 140 to 149 is warm purple, 150 to 159 is pink, 160 to 169 is indigo, 170 to 179 is light teal, 180 to 189 is magenta, and 190 to 199 is a yellowish green.

If you want the palette for yourself, I'm going to include it on my Downloads page, below my breedfiles!

I'm on the Petz Life Discord!

A decorative teal, teal, blue, and and purple line.

I've just joined the Petz Life Discord! It's an 18+ server, so if you're reading this and you aren't 18 yet, don't go there! I'll probably put a link on my Links page once I get around to that. I still have a lot of link cliques to put there.

New Stamp: Palette Swapper!

An indigo, Chihuaha-eared mixie with blue and green spots in Petz looks at the camera. Behind her is a simplistic aurora drawing. The text reads 'Hydrargyry Kennelz' at the top and 'Palette Swapper!' at the bottom. The stamp is primarily pink on the borders and blue on the inside, with the text being white, blue, and pink.

I've been trying lots of utilities for Petz lately, and this time, I tried out the palette swapping feature included in Prism Rainbow Lens' PetzA fork!

I went on a bit of a palette scrolling binge over at Queenie's collection, and eventually found Andi@Cirrutopia's "ciraurora" palette which, with its cyans, indigos, and purples, feels like it was made for me specifically, lol. Thus, we have Boreal!

An indigo, Chihuaha-eared mixie with blue and green spots in Petz.

Bory here is a mixie I hexed to resemble an aurora, hence the name. Under all that, she's actually a still-pretty-but-very-weird-looking dog, with all sorts of clashing colour paintballz.

A red, Chihuaha-eared mixie with odd blue and grey spots in Petz.

Bory's on my Petz page now, if you want to learn more about her!

New Stamp: First Genexie!

An orange Dachshund mixie in Petz looks at the camera. Behind her, two boxes from GenePoolz show the eye colours of blue and pink. The text reads 'Hydrargyry Kennelz' at the top and 'First Genexie!' at the bottom. The stamp is primarily purple on the borders and blue on the inside, with the text being white, blue, and purple.

I tried out Oasis' three new genexing tools, specifically the looks editor, to give Sunny the ability to pass down both blue and pink eyes!

I said in my terms guide definition for GenePoolz that GenePoolz 3's rumoured genexing capabilities would make me unstoppable, and practically the same day these three tools came out! I would love if someone could somehow make it so that weird eye colours (e.g. red-249, purple-234, etc.) were inheritable, but until that day, these tools are perfect! Every pet of mine is about to have pink, blue, or black eyes in their genes, mwahahahaha.

Everything from the WordPress site is here!

White text reading Hydrargyry Kennelz is next to the site logo, a cyan dog silhouette against a purple alchemical mercury symbol. The whole thing is on a teal, blue, and purple gradient.

With the old Basic Hexing Techniques tutorial now being up, I have officially moved everything from the old site here!

Accordingly, I've taken the old site down. If there's something I've forgotten, I still have 30 days to bring it back!

For now, though, please make sure to update any bookmarks or links to the Neocities URL!

The terms guide is up now!

A screenshot of the RKC Petz Forum tilted as though on a screen. The text in the image is not relevant.

I added the Guide to Petz Community Terms to my guides page! Go brush up if you want, since I've added a few more!

Ivy, why do you use the "♧" symbol all the time?

A 'clique', a small digital element, showing text that reads 'Hydrargyry Kennelz' next to the site logo, a cyan dog silhouette against a purple alchemical mercury symbol. The whole thing is on a teal, blue, and purple gradient.

In honour of my second site clique, I'm going to explain why I use the clubs symbol in a lot of things, including that clique, this site's emphatic text, and my usernames on the forums and Discord!

Four playing cards, all sevens, with the suits of diamonds, clubs, hearts, and spades.

If you aren't aware, the clubs symbol, ♧, respresents the clubs suit in a certain style of playing cards. Its tarot equivalent is the wand/rod/staff, but that isn't relevant, just a neat tidbit!

I'm in the aroacespec community (specifically anegoromantic and anegosexual), and back in the day a lot of aces used to identify themselves with card suits because of the "ace" pun! Aromantic asexual people used spades, romantic asexual people used hearts, demisexual people used diamonds, and grey-asexual people used clubs!

As such, I've grown attached to the clubs symbol as a representation for that identity, so now I use it all the time. It's even part of the name I use to identify my phone in Bluetooth connections!

Come to think of it, some card suit cliques would be interesting. I'd make some with the correct suit colours (black and red), the four-colour colours (black, red, blue, and green), and maybe some with the identity flags...

Meet the Petz Breed: The Chick!

♧ — Content Warning: This post contains discussion of simulated animal gore. No images are shown! — ♧

A series of eleven chicks in Petz. The first eight are yellow with green eyes, tan with darker markings and cherry-brown eyes, tan with brown markings and white eyes, black with grey eyes, cream with brown eyes, orange with teal eyes, white with blue eyes, and green with pink eyes. The last three chicks are alternative forms of the orange, white, and green chicks, with dark teal, red, and purple eyes, respectively.

Default AC Name: Chickie

Hexed From: Great Dane

Reasoning: A horribly dark advertisement. See below.

Variations: Eleven! (Yellow, tan, brown, black, cream, orange, white, and green, with the latter three having one alternative eye colour each)

Ivy's Fave: Black with steel-110 eyes

Other Notes:

Behold, the Easter breed I discussed! And yes, the dark reason for me wanting to make this file is going to be detailed below in red text, just in case someone wants to skip it!

Basically, I was on TV Tropes (yeah yeah I know), looking at their page on horrible ads, as one does. One of the ads they bring up is for some chocolate brand, where a young girl is shown grinding up a baby chicken. The gore was simulated, and not well, (even ignoring that it's photoshopped, it looks like beef coming out of the grinder, and there's way too much for it to come from a chick), but it still struck a chord with me as I have always loved chicks and found them adorable. I'm not overly disturbed by gore, but seeing that cute little chick in there made me want to rescue it.

And then, I thought, "Why not make a cute Petz chick breedfile?"

So here we are!

This is the Chick, and they come in a variety of patterns and colours based off of real baby chickens! (Except the green, obviously. Unless you put one in some harmless green dye.) They also hatch from eggs around age 70 in-game, with the eggs having four possible colours that can hint at the colour of chick, if you're into the mystery aspect! Brown eggs always contain brown chicks, but white eggs can contain yellow, cream, or white chicks, cream eggs can contain tan or orange chicks, and off-white eggs can contain black or green chicks! I may also edit the file so that any kind of chick can come from any kind of egg...

Four circular eggs in Petz. From left to right, they are white, brown, offwhite, and cream.

As with all the others, you can find this breed on my Downloads!

A new breed approaches...

A decorative teal, blue, and purple line.

I'm pretty sure I'm done work on the new breed! I'll probably put it up either tomorrow or Friday.

In the meantime, here's a teaser for what's to come...

More work is being done!

A decorative teal, blue, and purple line.

Gods, it's late here. This is what I get for only getting onto my computer at 10:30 PM.

I updated the tutorials to include my old "Getting Started With Petz" tut! Go check it out if you want!

I also now have a guestbook! I tried to get a shoutbox, but none of them seemed to like my coding, lol. I don't blame them. The guestbook works though, so go check that out too!

As for other things, here's my plans for the site for the next little bit:

Stay tuned!

Back on track!

A decorative teal, blue, and purple line.

I swear, my computer loads so much faster at home than at school. Makes no sense. >.<

I have some plans for this impending Easter! Namely, a cute semi-related breed. Not sure if it's going to be a cat or a dog yet, I'll have to weigh my options for the personality.

The story behind why I made this breed will be... kinda dark, but I'll try not to let that distract from how it is! I'll be sure to let you guys know when that breed is up!

I'm back home!

A decorative teal, blue, and purple line.

I've moved out of residence and am now back home! Also, I made the mistake of calling Saturday the 18th when it's actually the 19th. Today is the 18th, silly!

Either way, I need to settle in a bit, but it'll be back to regular posting very soon!

Winding down a bit

As this is quite literally my last three days of university, and I have exams and need to move out, I have started to update the WordPress archive less, skipping it entirely today.

You can probably expect more from me again starting Saturday April 18! I'll be moved out of residence and living at home again by then.

Slowly but surely!

An image of the petfile of a dog named Lucky open in HxD, a hex editor, overlaid with a blue illustration of DNA.

I've added more to the WordPress archive, and added the genetics guide! I also fixed the glitch where the favicon wouldn't show up, lol.

It's all coming together.

My cliques, stamps, and downloads are working now! Go grab anything you want from there!

New site, who dis?

White text reading Hydrargyry Kennelz is next to the site logo, a cyan dog silhouette against a purple alchemical mercury symbol. The whole thing is on a teal, blue, and purple gradient.

I really feel like a proper Petz community member now, lol. I've moved my stuff here from my Wordpress because, well, I despise Automattic and its founder so, so much. I want absolutely nothing to do with Matt Mullenweg because of numerous reasons that I'm sure some of you are aware of. Plus, WordPress and Automattic as a whole are also very open to generative AI, while I... am not, to say the least. I intially was just going to switch to CosmicWord, but decided against it as it looked too complex for me. Then I started using Silex, and was going to publish this on Gitlab, but I had troubles with that too. So, now, I came here! If it works for everyone else, it works for me. Besides, I have a bit of HTML knowledge thanks to Tumblr... which, on that note, despite Tumblr also being an Automattic-owned social, I will still keep using it out of begrudging love for the platform and the people there.

Anyway, here's my plans for the site for now, in roughly the order I want to complete them:
